So often I am asked to assist in computer repairs and the like. I thought that I would offer some free programs on computer virus' and other assorted software here. I will also be posting links that may be of interest :-) ALL of these programs are COMPLETELY FREE. You will not even have to offer a credit card number. Just click, download, install and run.
Free Anti-Virus Programs
AVG is a free program that includes daily updates and also an email scanner. While it uses more resources that Avast, it is a worthwhile anti-virus program. Be sure to click on the FREE version.
Avast is the program that I use. It has all the features of AVG and has audible virus updates so you know that the latest files are installed. It also uses less resources and has an email scanner. LIke AVG it is fully automated and runs at a set time in the background.
Super Anti-Spyware is an excellent resource to complement your anti-virus program. While you have to run the program manually, you will be surprised at what it finds and how much. Spyware can include the vicious Worm and Trojan to the simple tracking cookie. SAS will find them ALL!
I will be adding more as time allows, but these will get you started. Norton and McAffee often expire with no warning. These are very viable solutions and you can't beat the price. Only install ONE anti-virus program! Having more than one will cause a conflict and slow your computer down! If your existing program is expired or if you just want a change, make sure that you UN-install the existing program before installing the new one.
